Students to be trained for government jobs by universities

According to the latest reports, a number of universities in Telangana will be launching free coaching for students for various government jobs on their respective campuses.

Competitive exam coaching will soon be rampant on the campuses of universities in the state. Osmania University (OU), Kakatiya University (KU), Telangana University, Mahatma Gandhi University, and Satavahana University are among the universities that will soon offer free training for various government jobs on their campuses.

The move comes after Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy recently directed Vice Chancellors of State Universities to provide training to students interested in government jobs as the State government prepares to announce job openings in various departments. The officials were also notified that the government was ready to extend necessary grants to the universities.

The OU administration has already drawn detailed plans to establish its own Civil Services Academy, which will provide free training to students for the Civil Services Examination of the Union Public Service Commission, the Staff Selection Commission, the Railway Recruitment Board, and other bank examinations besides for Telangana State Public Service Commission’s examinations.

“We’ve identified staff to prepare students for recruitment exams, as well as put in place the required infrastructure.  The coaching programme will begin soon once the Education Minister announces it,” an OU official said.

Similarly, KU in Warangal is constructing a training facility on campus that can accommodate 200 students. Students will receive training for occupations in the State government Groups I, II, III, and IV, as well as positions in the Police Department.

Satavahana University in Karimnagar has chosen to provide free coaching to all of its students on campus, and authorities have applied for financing from the Telangana State Council of Higher Education.

“For all competitive recruitment examinations, we would provide free coaching. There will be no screening test for the coaching, and it will be open to all students on campus. A screening test may be undertaken in the future if we begin intensive coaching,” an official stated.
