Supreme Court criticised government for “cherry-picking” in Tribunal Appointments 

Taking the case of tribunals across the country further, the Supreme Court criticised the government for “cherry-picking” from their recommendations. Following the same, the government has been given two weeks to complete appointment letters.

SC Accuses Centre Of “Cherry Picking” In Tribunal Appointments 

Chief Justice NV Ramana said during the hearing that he has seen the National Company Law Tribunal appointments. He said, what sort of choice is this? Furthermore, exactly the same thing (has been) finished with (the) ITAT (Income Tax Appellate Tribunal) individuals too. We are extremely discontent with how the choices are being taken,” the Chief Justice said.

I’m additionally important for the NCLT Selection Committee. We met 544 individuals… out of which we gave the names of 11 legal individuals and 10 specialized individuals. CJ Calls Government’s Approach Unfortunate

In a progression of sharp comments, the Chief Justice highlighted that the public authority’s methodology “unfortunate”.

To this, Attorney General KK Venugopal answered: “The public authority is qualified for not follow certain proposals”.
