Supreme Court Granted Permission for Ganesh Visarjan at Hussain Sagar

Finally the Supreme Court today granted permission for the Visarjan of Ganesh Idols in Hussain Sagar but for this year.

Following the High Court’s order banning immersion of Ganesh Idols in Hussain Sagar Lake, the Telangana Government approached the Apex Court for grant of relief. Admitting the Telangana Government’s appeal, the Supreme Court has posed the matter today where the case came up to the bench again for hearing. While hearing the matter the apex body granted permission for immersion of Ganesh Idols in Hussain Sagar saying that the permission was confined to only this year.

The news created a ripple of excitement among the Hindu community in the city especially among the fringe groups like BJP and the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi who vowed to take out Ganesh Visarjan procession what may come in their way.

Elated over the decision, the General Secretary of Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi Bhagwant Rao said, “We welcome the Supreme Court’s order but enforcing a condition like allowing immersion only for this year serves no purpose.”

The Samithi leaders, who until now left no stone to criticise the TRS government, have now expressed their pleasure over the impromptu approach of the government that secured relief from the Supreme Court against the High Court’s order just two days ahead of the Ganesh Visajan procession.
