Take steps to keep covid 19 second wave at bay in Telangana: KCR

Hyderabad: The Chief Minister of the state K Chandrashekhar Rao has instructed the officials to take all the preventive measures needed as the number of Covid-19 virus cases is on the increase in some states of the country. He said that all the required actions and measures should be taken to withstand even the emergence of the second wave of the Covid virus in the State. He urged the people to be cautious and observe self-restraint guidelines. “Maintaining personal safety is the best medicine for preventing the Covid-19 virus,” the CM said.

Speaking on the occasion the CM said, “Situation is coming back to normalcy in the State. Covid cases are on the decrease in the Telangana State. Despite the high increase in the number of tests conducted, the positive cases are less than 10 percent. The recovery rate is 94.5 percent. Though people with Covid 19 virus are suffering a bit, the mortality rate is very low. But yet the government is on high alert and taking all the necessary precautions. All over the State, 10000 beds with Oxygen facilities are kept ready. We can increase their number. As of date, the situation is very much under control.”

The CM held a review meeting on Covid 19 virus in the state on Sunday at his camp office Pragathi Bhavan here. The Chief Secretary of the state Somesh Kumar, the Principal Secretary of Medical and Health department Alii Murtuza Rizvi, the Principal Secretary of CMO S Narsing Rao, Secretary Ms. Smita Sabharwal, Principal Secretary (Finance) Ramakrishna Rao, Medical and Health Director Srinivas Rao, Medical Education Director Ramesh Reddy, Member Experts Committee on Covid Gangadhar and others participated in the review meeting.

The CM said that There was a sudden surge of cases in Delhi, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh States. “Cases are slightly on the rise in Kerala and Karnataka States. It is estimated that with this, there is a chance of Covid’s second wave emerging. The state should be in a position to withstand even the second wave of Covid and for this officials should be alert and ready. Required preparations should be made for this,” the CM said.

“The state government will make all the efforts and put in place measures to stop the spread of the Corona Virus. But this required support from the people. Though there is an unlock down process going on now, people should cautious and wear masks and follow all the guidelines,” KCR suggested.

The CM disclosed that once a Vaccine is available for Covid, it would be first given to the healthcare workers.
