Talasani encouraging Wakf land grabbing in Sanathnagar, Shashidhar writes to CM

Hyderabad: Alleging that Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav has been encouraging local people to trespass into Wakf Board land in Sanathnagar for over two years, former MLA Marri Shashidhar Reddy wrote to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao control the illegal activities of his minister.

In his letter, Shashidhar Reddy reminded the Chief Minister that while his party had promised to ensure that Wakf Board land under illegal occupation would be taken back, Talasani was acting contrary to it and encouraging land grabbing. Pointing out that the affairs of the Wakf Board are governed by a Central Act and the rules framed under it, Shashidhar Reddy said if any land is to be leased out in Hyderabad, there should be an advertisement in two national and local newspapers and wide publicity should be given locally, including near mosques and so on through wall posters and other means and public auction procedure should be followed. According to the market rate, the base bid for leasing land in question should be minimum Rs 50,000 per month and the highest bidder shall be qualified to get it. The former MLA said the minister again visited the land belonging to Wakf Board along with Wakf Board chairman Saleem five days ago and has been misleading the people of Czech Colony in Sanathnagar to give an impression that they can enter that land without any fear since the Chairman is favourable.

Shashidhar Reddy said earlier in August 2016, the minister asked the people of Colony to enter the land admeasuring half-an-acre belonging to the Wakf Board on the pretext of carrying out “Swach Hyderabad” program. He said at that time he intervened and prevented their designs. The former MLA said there was danger of communal parties to polarise people on religious basis and vitiate communal harmony. He further said that in 2017 Talasani made Deputy Chief Minister Mahamood Ali to visit the Czech Colony in an attempt to get that Wakf Board land “allotted” to the Colony Federation. The Federation paid a substantial amount to the Wakf Board as deposit as a part of the arrangement as directed by minister Talasani.

Instead of protecting the Wakf Board properties from land sharks, the Board chairman was encouraging such illegal activities. He said the minister has scant respect for the law and instigated TRS “henchmen” to construct an arch gate without GHMC permission at the Erragadda junction main road and the common road for entrance to Czech Colony and Sanathnagar SRT. Talasani inaugurated the work, he pointed out.

The GHMC Commissioner ordered that the work be stopped and the incomplete structure be dismantled, he said, adding there was no action at the behest of the minister. The DMC should take immediate steps to dismantle the illegal structure covering a part of the road, he demanded. (NSS)
