Tamil Nadu: Ex CM Panneerselvam Urges Law Stalin To Ban Online Gaming

As per the latest reports, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK Coordinator O.Panneerselvam on Wednesday said that online gaming is nothing but gambling, pointing out the warning note in the advertisements by online gaming organisations.

He encouraged Chief Minister M.K.Stalin to authorize a regulation restricting web-based gaming or appeal against the High Court that rejected such a regulation acquired by the previous AIADMK government.

Refering to the tricking ads by internet gaming organizations reporting that the players can procure up to Rs 2,000 crore and furthermore the admonition note expressing that there are monetary ramifications for the players and the gaming can transform into an enthusiastic propensity/habit, the previous clergyman said this demonstrates it is just betting.

Panneerselvam said a few groups have ended it all in the state in the wake of losing cash in online games and the AIADMK government had acquired a regulation forbidding such games in 2021.

Notwithstanding, the Madras High Court for a situation documented by an internet gaming organization rejected the law that very year saying that it conflicts with the Fundamental Rights ensured by the Indian Constitution, he said.
