A school teacher in Bihar’s Gaya has been arrested on charges of molesting a minor student, as reported by the police on Monday. The incident, which occurred on September 30, came to light after the girl’s uncle filed a complaint with the Paraiya police station in Gaya.
The accused has been identified as Subhash Manjhi, according to Gulshan Kumar, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer. The police investigation revealed that the girl, who resides in a village within the Paraiya police jurisdiction, was taken to the school rooftop by the teacher and subjected to molestation.
Fortunately, the girl managed to escape and return to her classroom. Following the uncle’s complaint, the Paraiya police registered a case against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, leading to the immediate arrest of the school teacher.

In a separate incident on September 29, a man named Saurabh Kumar, hailing from Uttar Pradesh’s Agra, was apprehended for allegedly molesting a student aboard the Garib Rath Express Train en route to Bihar’s Saharsa, as per the police. The accused, who worked as a sweeper on the train, had asked the student for her phone number and behaved inappropriately.
Upon the student’s outcry, fellow passengers intervened and detained the accused. They promptly informed the authorities, and the Muzaffarpur Railway Station took action, leading to the arrest of the accused at Muzaffarpur junction. He was subsequently taken to the police station for further investigation.
