Telangana: 900 mosques to receive Ramadan gift packets and Iftar feast

On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, the state government had finished preparing gift packets containing clothing to be distributed among the poor Muslims.

Under the supervision of local MLAs, the gifts will be distributed to 119 assembly constituencies.

Shahnawaz Qasim, director of Minority Welfare, said that 90% of preparations have been completed for the distribution of gift packets in the city and districts. The MLAs will now handle the distribution according to their convenience, he said.

There are preparations underway for the distribution of gift packets and the Iftar feast in 900 mosques throughout the state. The Government will distribute Rs.1 lakh to each mosque for the Iftar feast.

Mahnawaz Qasim further explained that the MLAs would propose four mosques, and the corporators would select two mosques in each Assembly Constituency to distribute gifts and organize feasts.

Shahnawaz said that Hyderabad will have more than 434 mosques where the Iftar feast and gifts will be distributed. Next to the Hajj house is a function hall where the distribution will be held. Gift packets will be delivered to the constituents of MLAs from here, he added.

This Iftar feast will be organized on behalf of the Chief Minister in the last week of Ramadan and the date has not been determined yet.

Rs 900 cr spent on minority progress

Minority Welfare Minister K Ishwar said the TRS government spent Rs 900 crores on Minority Welfare.

As part of minority initiatives, he mentioned the renovation of mosques and dargahs for Ramadan, the distribution of clothes and rations to the poor in advance of Eid ul Fitr, the improvement of education in 204 minority residential schools, the provision of Rs 20 lakhs to minority students studying abroad, and the provision of Rs 5,000 monthly honorarium to around 10,000 Imams and Muezzins, as well as Rs 100,116 to Muslim girls under the Shaadi Mubarak Scheme.
