Telangana BJP files over 100 RTI queries challenging CM KCR’s promises

Ahead of the upcoming state elections, the Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to use Right to Information (RTI) as a weapon to expose the alleged failed promises of the TRS government under K Chandrasekhar Rao.

According to the BJP party statement, party cadres and Yuva Morcha activists are also encouraged to file RTI petitions.

The Telangana BJP intends to hold the TRS government accountable for its alleged failures in front of the public and is now seeking party cadre from districts and Yuva Morcha activists to file RTI petitions in order to apply pressure.

To implement this strategy, Telangana State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, along with other BJP leaders, raised over 100 queries to the CMO, Principal Secretary’s Office, Finance, Revenue, ACB, Social Welfare, Panchayati Raj, Irrigation, Education, and Health departments.

According to BJP leaders, they sought information on the status of promises and assurances made by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in the 2014 and 2018 TRS manifestos.

On June 28, state BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar filed hundreds of RTI applications, some of which relate to KCR’s assurances and their fulfillment.

Additionally, he sought information about government debt, debt servicing payments, number of advisors appointed and their services, construction of new super-specialty hospitals in district headquarters, construction of Mandal-based 30-bed hospitals, construction of assembly-based 100-bed hospitals, and complaints of land grabbing and actions taken in response.

The majority of the questions concerned the filling of vacancies in various departments as suggested by the Biswal Committee, as well as other job opportunities.

There have also been questions raised by BJP leaders about the expenditure on Pragati Bhavan and the number of days the chief minister has been in his official residence.

The state BJP is also looking for information on subsidies given to farmers and various caste-based communities, as well as the construction and distribution of two-bedroom houses for the poor and pension benefits for the elderly, widowed, and physically handicapped.
