Telangana Cyber Security Warns Against New Year Scams

The Telangana State Cyber Security Bureau has issued a warning as the New Year approaches regarding an increase in fraudulent operations targeting individuals with promises of huge prizes through phony fortunate draw schemes.

The scam uses seductive messages like “You have won a new car in a lucky draw” or “A gift for you!” Individuals are reminded to be cautious if they receive calls or texts stating they have won rewards, as the perpetrators of these scams sometimes mimic officials of well-known firms or organizations.

The common method of operation for these scams is to convince victims of their apparent victory and coerce them into revealing sensitive information, such as bank card numbers or other personal information. Those who fall victim to these schemes may suffer financial losses as a result of this deception.

When getting unexpected award notices or offers that appear too good to be true, the Telangana State Cyber Security Bureau underlines the necessity of remaining attentive and exercising caution. They have advised people to report cybercrime and file complaints at cybercrime.gov.in or by dialing 1930.

During the holiday season, cyber fraudsters are taking advantage of the opportunities to defraud users with lucky draw scams.” If you receive a call to claim the gift, the fraudster will ask for your bank card information, and you may lose money. “Beware of these con artists,” warns the Telangana State Cyber Security Bureau
