Telangana Govt Is Providing Ration to the Poor : Kamalakar

State Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar today said that the state government was providing ration to all the poor people of Telangana.

Alleging that the Central government is imposing restrictions on the supply of the ration, he said that the state government was supplying the ration despite the restrictions.

He made these remarks while replying to questions raised by the MLAs of the State Assembly in the house during question hour on the issue of the food security cards.

Speaking on the occasion, Kamalakar said that the Chief Minister of the State K Chandrashekar Rao was working hard to transform the State into a pauper’s free state. Speaking on the occasion, he said that they had received 9,53,394 applications for the issuance of the food security cards and added that they had found 6,70,999 applications as proper. He said that a total of 21,30,194 people were being benefitted from the food security cards scheme. He said that they had 94,417 food security cards and 3,30,459 beneficiaries in the year 2016, 36,039 cards and 1,26,136 beneficiaries in the year 2017, 1,65,036 cards and 5,77,626 beneficiaries in the year 2018, 64,471 cards and 2,25,649 beneficiaries in the year 2019, 11 cards and 39 beneficiaries in the year 2020 and 3,11,025 Cards and 8,70,285 beneficiaries in the year 2021. He said that 26 percent of the total applications (107012) were rejected by them and added that they had rejected the applications of those who had an excess amount of agriculture land, professionals, retired pensioners, and government employees.

He said that those who had 1.5 lakh annual income in rural areas and ₹2 lakh annual income in urban areas and Those who had 3.5 acres of wet land and 7.5 acres of dry land were eligible for the issuance of the food security cards. Referring to the NFSA act-2013 of the central government, he said that the beneficiaries of the food security scheme should not exceed 191.696 Lakhs. He said that they have 36.95 lakh cards and 95.98 lakhs beneficiaries in Telangana.
