Telangana State’s private and government Covid Vaccination Centres (CVC) gave a total of over 6 crore doses of Covid vaccines to all eligible age groups, marking yet another unique milestone in the state’s fight against the Covid pandemic.
In Telangana, a total of 6,00,63,411 Covid doses have been administered in private and government vaccine centres. Out of the 6 crore Covid vaccinations, 3,11,87,219 doses were first doses, 2,83,57,632 doses were second, and 5,18,560 doses were booster or precautionary doses given to older individuals with co-morbid conditions.
The Covid vaccination drive for youngsters aged 12 to 14 years old, which began on March 16, has so far covered 2,14,055 children (19% of the targeted 11,36,000) in Telangana.
Telangana to hold vaccination drive in schools for 12-14-year-olds
Following a tepid response to the vaccination drive for 12-14-year-old children for the second day in a row on Thursday, state health officials decided to move the drive to schools.
“Beginning Monday, we will be coming to schools and vaccinating youngsters in front of their parents, because the children are in school. We hope to finish vaccinating all of the children in this age group within the next two to three weeks before the summer holidays begin. We will launch a big campaign”, said Dr G Srinivasa Rao, Telangana’s director of public health.
Meanwhile, officials stated that the introduction of any new vaccination normally results in a negative reaction and underlined that Corbevax is safe. There hasn’t been a single case of adverse effects documented.
Because it is derived from DNA, it is one of the safest vaccines. Parents must come forward and get their children vaccinated, the official said, adding that the initiative has been successful in some districts, such as Yadadri, which has reached 20% of its overall target in just two days.

In total, 1,584 youngsters were vaccinated in Hyderabad, up from 428 on Wednesday. This accounted for 1% of the total goal in the city. A total of 63,591 children in the age group were vaccinated across the state, accounting for 6% of the statewide target of 11.3 lakh children in the age group.
