Telangana has today emerged as role model for other States: KCR

Affirming that promises made on June 2, 2014 in rebuilding Telangana were kept, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said Telangana needed to reach new heights and promised to work hard to ensure the State’s further development till his last breath.

People were assured that Telangana would be rebuilt in such a way that the entire nation would benefit greatly from it. In just nine years, it has become a reality. Telangana has today emerged as a role model for other states, said Chandrashekhar Rao.

After paying floral tributes to the Telangana Martyrs at Gun Park, the Chief Minister unfurled the tricolor at the Dr. BR Ambedkar Secretariat as the decennial celebrations of the Telangana State Formation Day got underway to a colourful start.

In extending greetings on Formation Day to the people, the Chief Minister stated that the Telangana model had emerged as the most sought-after development model, with people in other states demanding replication.

Only six years of success have resulted in the progress made thus far. For three years, the covid pandemic was hindering progress in every way. Despite the challenges of covid and demonetization, Telangana had a 155 percent growth rate, he said. “I had assured to supply piped drinking water to each household, failing which I would not seek votes. The promise is fulfilled,” Chandrashekhar Rao reminded.

While Telangana was the first state to provide safe and clean drinking water to every household, West Bengal was at the bottom, and Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was third.

In fact, the Central Government launched the “Har Ghar Jal Yojana” to emulate Mission Bhagiratha, but it has not met its 100 percent target, the Chief Minister said. Telangana’s welfare and development programs were created with a humanitarian in mind. The slogan of increasing the state’s wealth and distributing it among the people heralded a new change.

Telangana’s per capita income was only Rs 1.24 lakh in 2014, but it has now risen to Rs.3.17 lakh. Telangana’s GSDP value was Rs.5.05 crore in 2014, and it increased to Rs.12.93 crore as a result of the comprehensive development in all sectors, he said.

In terms of power sector achievements, the Chief Minister stated that Telangana was the only state that provided 24 hour quality power supply to various sectors, including free power to farmers.

Telangana was spending approximately Rs.12,000 crore on free power supply to agriculture. In Gujarat, on the other hand, power holidays were declared in each district on a regular basis, he said, adding, “Crop holiday and power holiday have become history in the State. That’s why Telangana model has become a topic of discussion across the country”

Telangana’s installed power generation capacity was 7,778 MW when the state was formed. It has now been increased to 18,453 MW.

Similarly, the capacity of solar power generation was increased from 74 MW to 5,741 MW. He said that Telangana leads the country in solar power generation.

Telangana’s government prioritized irrigation and built Kaleshwaram, the world’s largest lift irrigation project, in a short period of time. The project has now made the Godavari River a permanent source for 250 kilometers. Similarly, 80 percent of the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation project was completed, and the Sitarama project in Khammam was nearing completion. “Telangana’s irrigation policy aided in facilitating water to 75 lakh acres. Another 50 lakh acres will be irrigated in two to three years,” Chandrashekhar Rao said amidst cheers from the gathering.

Recalling the struggles of people seeking a separate state, the Chief Minister stated that every time a movement grew, it was suppressed in 1969 and 1971. The united Andhra rulers plotted to derail the movement, but in 2001, the second phase movement erupted.

“I feel blessed to lead the movement. On the occasion of decennial Telangana Formation Day celebrations, my heartfelt tributes to the martyrs, who laid down their lives to achieve Telangana” Chandrashekhar Rao said.

He also praised the contributions of people from all walks of life, including government employees, elected representatives, and bureaucrats, in Telangana’s success. He went on to say that the state should strive to be a constant source of inspiration for future generations.
