Telangana Looks for Rs 500 Crore from Centre for Hyderabad-Vijayawada Highway

Hyderabad: Minister of Telangana for municipal organization and urban development K. T. Rama Rao has asked the Centre to give Rs 500 crore for advancement works in Hyderabad, Vijayawada region of National Highway 65.

In a letter to Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highway, he looked for help to fix the infrastructure issues on the Hyderabad – Vijayawada area.

He expressed that the 25 km portion on Hyderabad – Vijayawada area has a few issues like at-level intersections, insufficient land capacity and lack of service streets for nearby traffic.

Rao composed that the State Public Works Department (PWD) has arranged a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for around Rs 500 crore for the development of flyovers, service streets, grade separators, an increase of lane capacity.

 

He asked the Union Minister to authorize the funds in the current year’s yearly plan (2020-21) and help in settling issues on trafficked segments of the national highway.

He expressed that the state government has taken up numerous infra projects and is arranging a lot more with a way to decongesting traffic in the city, with specific accentuation on giving great access to public highways from Hyderabad Metropolitan city.

Rama Rao had written: “Hyderabad is one of the fastest-growing cities in the world with many IT companies including top-five IT majors i.e. Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, and Salesforce have chosen Hyderabad to establish their second-largest facilities outside their global base.”

He additionally said that the progressive methods of the Telangana government and the strategic area and connectivity advantage of Hyderabad city have made it a favored destination for some pharma, protection, aerospace, and other manufacturing enterprises.

With the developing infrastructure requests of Hyderabad city, the state government has created 72 km of Metro Rail connectivity, many flyovers, Railway over Bridges (ROBs), underpasses, Railway under Bridges (RUBs), and furthermore various link streets to encourage the free and safe movement of traffic in the city, he included
