Telangana Minister Faces Affidavit Alteration Charges

Telangana police have filed an election affidavit altering charge against state minister V. Srinivas Goud and ten others. On the direction of a special court for Members of Parliament and Members of Legislative Assemblies (MPs and MLAs) in Hyderabad, the complaint was filed in Mahabubnagar Two Town police station.

The issue originates from charges that V. Srinivas Goud, Minister of Tourism and Excise, tampered with records during the 2018 state elections. He allegedly modified his election affidavit before the returning officer in Mahabubnagar, omitting details on estates purchased by his wife and bank loans.

The petitioner claimed that Goud filed three affidavits, one of which was replaced in conjunction with the returning officer, in contravention of the Representation of Peoples Act.

Based on a plea submitted by Raghavendra Raju, the court ordered the police to register the case. The court warned that failure to register the case by the police could be considered contempt of court. Srinivas Goud, Minister, has disputed the allegations leveled against him.
