Telangana: Moderate rains predicted till Oct 13

As per the latest reports, parts of Hyderabad received light rain on Monday, and the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) forecasts rain in the state for the next three days.

Adilabad, Mancherial, and Narayanpet districts have received light rain in the last 24 hours. The forecast for the next 24 hours predicts very light rainfall in Jagtial, Mancherial, and Peddapalli, as well as light rainfall in Nalgonda, Suryapet, and Khammam.

Qutbulllapur in the Greater Hyderabad region is expected to receive light rainfall, while most other areas, including Shaikpet and Maredpally in Secunderabad, are expected to receive very light rainfall.

The maximum temperature in GHMC is expected to be between 30 and 32 degrees, with a minimum temperature of 20 degrees.

An unexpected cloudburst on Saturday evening flooded Western Hyderabad and caused heavy traffic jams, causing severe hardships for evening commuters.

Beginning around 6 p.m., it rained continuously for nearly two to three hours in Serilingampally and surrounding areas, later spreading to Kukatpally, Khairatabad, Begumpet, and Punjagutta. Notably, there was no rain in the city’s central and eastern areas.

At 8 p.m., the weather station at Kakatiya Hills in Madhapur recorded the highest rainfall, close to 9.5 centimeters, followed by Shaikpet and Jubilee Hills at 9 centimeters.

More than seven centimeters of rain fell in Madhapur and Hydernagar, and more more than six centimeters in Gachibowli, KPHB, and Hafeezpet. According to data from automatic weather monitoring stations, Attapur, Miyapur, Gachibowli, Balanagar, Tolichowki, Quthbullapur, Mothinagar, Mossapet, and other localities received heavy rainfall.

Vehicles waded in nearly waist-deep water in several areas, as evidenced by video clips posted on social media from Tolichowki and the stretch under the PVNR Expressway near Upparpally in Attapur. Commuters had a difficult time getting to their destinations because several stretches were deep underwater, making it difficult for vehicles to cross them.
