Telangana: Rajagopal Reddy submits resignation letter after quitting Congress

Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, who announced his resignation from the Indian National Congress in Telangana a few days ago, submitted his resignation letter as an MLA on Monday, according to the latest reports. On August 3, Reddy announced his resignation from both the Congress party and as an MLA.

In front of the media on Monday morning, he handed over his resignation letter to Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy. “I hereby tender my resignation from my seat in the House, effective from August 8,” the letter stated.

Following the turn of events, Reddy addressed a press conference, claiming that “anarchy” was raging in Telangana.

In a press conference, he launched a scathing attack on Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, claiming that the “CM’s self-esteem has been captured.” Reddy also stated that he resigned for the sake of the people and the state, and that his resignation was a protest against the ‘dynasty’ regime.

The former Congress MLA also denied allegations that he sought ‘by-elections’ in the state.

He also expressed confidence in the Munogode assembly constituency, stating that it will grow after his resignation because he sacrificed the position for the people of Munugode.

It is worth noting that Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy is set to join the BJP on August 21 in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Rajagopal Reddy had previously blamed Congress for his decision, claiming that the party had become weak at both the national and state levels.

He went on to criticize the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government, claiming that there is no democracy and the family is looting the state. The family rule is in effect, he said.

In another blow to the Congress party in Telangana, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Spokesperson Dasoju Sravan resigned on Friday, citing chaos within the party under the leadership of state Congress unit chief Revanth Reddy.
