Telangana Secretariat Mosque Access Controversy

Despite the inauguration of new mosques at the Telangana Secretariat, worshippers are having difficulty accessing the facilities. Worshippers are being denied admission to the mosque for the Fajr (dawn) prayer due to strict security measures in the Secretariat area.

Individuals attempting to pray Fajr after the recent inauguration were stopped by police, who informed them that the mosque was not open at the time. Worshippers were barred from entering the mosque, but they were later allowed to pray after the intervention of high officials, according to social media reports.

Another issue cited by attendees is a lack of water for washing before prayers. According to videos circulating online, the mosque is experiencing water scarcity, which is preventing adequate prayer preparation. Although the government has established a mosque committee to monitor the mosque’s functioning, it appears that their efforts have yet to begin.

Muslim community members have voiced a desire to have access to the mosque for all five daily prayers. It should be noted that the mosque is located outside the Secretariat area, where security worries should be less prevalent. The community is pressing the government to allow worshippers to use the mosque throughout all prayer times, including Fajr.

In reaction to the situation, the administration issued a circular urging police officers not to interfere with people worshiping at the mosque. The problem emphasizes the need of providing proper facilities and access to places of worship while simultaneously addressing security issues.
