Telangana: State govt approves 3,897 posts in 9 medical colleges

The State government approved the creation of 3897 posts in various categories in nine new medical colleges and attached hospitals on Thursday, a significant boost to healthcare services and medical education.

The State government has allocated 433 posts to each of the nine government medical colleges and their attached government general hospitals in Rajanna Sircilla, Kamareddy, Vikarabad, Khammam, Karimnagar, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Kumarambheem Asifabad, Jangaon, and Nirmal.

These posts will be filled across 33 different categories.

Health Minister T Harish Rao said on Thursday that the approval of 3897 posts is a significant boost for Aarogya Telangana under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.

“Big boost to Aarogya Telangana, under the visionary leadership of CM KCR garu to provide accessible healthcare for all. TS Govt accorded sanction for creation of 3897 posts in various categories in 9 medical colleges and attached government general hospitals under Director Medical Education,” Harish Rao tweeted on Thursday.

Eight New Medical Colleges in Telangana from This Year

“433 posts have been created per college in 9 new Medical Colleges and attached Government General Hospitals at Rajanna Sircilla, Kamareddy, Vikarabad, Khammam, Karimnagar, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Komarambeem Asifabad, Janagoan and Nirmal,” he further added.

After receiving approval from the Finance department, Telangana’s Health, Medical, and Family Welfare (HM&FW) department will begin the process of filling the sanctioned posts. According to a Government Order (GO Ms No 181) dated November 30, 2022, from Special Chief Secretary, K Ramakrishna Rao (Finance), the HM&FW department was requested to take the necessary action in the matter.

During an online event from Pragathi Bhavan in Hyderabad, CM KCR also inaugurated eight government medical colleges in Sangareddy, Mahabubabad, Mancherial, Jagityal, Wanaparthy, Kothagudem, Nagarkurnool, and Ramagundam.

With this, the first-year MBBS classes in the eight new colleges have begun. The CM congratulated health minister Harish Rao, senior officials, medical students, and staff, calling it a historic moment. He stated that the number of government medical colleges in the state has increased to 17, covering 16 districts.
