Telangana: State Govt asks Centre’s help in setting up eco-tourism hubs

As per the latest reports, the Telangana government has reached out to the Centre and asked for its help in setting up eco-tourism hubs across the state.

The state government requested the Centre to allocate Rs 473 crore under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme to develop the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project as a major tourist attraction.

It has been estimated that Rs 750 crore has been allocated in the state budget for developing eco-tourism circuits at various project sites in the state.

The Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC) is committed to developing tourist infrastructure as well as wayside amenities, restaurants, suspension bridges, sound, light shows, glow gardens, musical fountains, and other attractions.

Additionally, the corporation offers package tours, boating, and adventure activities to enhance the visitor experience, officials said. The officials announced that a “Kaleshwaram Tourism Circuit” was being developed by connecting other project sites, including Medigadda Barrage, Kannepally Pump House, Kaleshwaram Temple, Annaram Barrage, Annaram Water Canal, Sundilla Barrage, and Yellampally Reservoir. Currently, the works are in the design stage, according to the official.

Officials said the government has requested funds under two schemes of the Government of India, Swadesh Darshan and PRASAD, for the development of tourist spots worth Rs 473 crore.

Among the proposals sent to the Centre are the development of Pilgrimage and Nature Tourism Circuit in Mahbubnagar district under Swadesh Darshan Scheme with Rs 101.72 crore, eco-tourism circuit development in Mancherial district with Rs 98 crore, development of Fort Circuit in Telangana State with Rs 101 crore, and Sri Venkateshwara Swamy Temple development at Manyamkonda in Mahbubnagar district with Rs 50 crore.

In addition, Rs 61.84 crore will be used to construct pilgrimage facilities at Bhadrachalam Group of Temples in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, as well as Rs 62.73 crore for constructing heritage infrastructure at Ramappa Temple in Mulugu district.

The government proposes an investment of Rs 473 crore for promoting tourism across the state. The officials said the proposals are in the process of being reviewed.
