Telangana’s Employee Health Care Trust (EHCT) Initiative

The Telangana government has established the Employee Health Care Trust (EHCT) with the goal of providing cashless, high-quality medical treatment to employees, retirees, and their families. This significant move toward employee well-being was unveiled soon before the Dasara celebration.

Background:

The origins of this project may be traced back to the first PRC Commission’s suggestion for a specialized health system for employees and pensioners. To fulfill this aim, the government recommended establishing a dedicated trust. Employee unions gladly pledged to give one percent of their base wage to support this program, with the government matching these donations.

EHCT’s Key Highlights:

  • Trust Leadership: The trust will be led by the government’s Chief Secretary (CS).
  • Members will include secretaries from Finance, Health, Education, General Administration, Home, and the Director of Medical Education. The Member Secretary will be EHS’s CEO.
  • Employee and Pensioner Representatives: The government will choose six employee representatives and two pensioner representatives.
  • Policy Recommendations: Board members will provide policy recommendations to the government, with the CEO of EHS being a devoted government servant.
  • payments: Both employees and retirees will contribute monthly payments that will be collected automatically from their paychecks, with the government matching these amounts.
  • Implementation: The government has already assigned Arogya Shree Trust 15 jobs for effective EHS management. Implementation in detail will be isued later

Response:

State Health Minister Harish Rao thanked Chief Minister KCR for his decision, emphasizing the government’s commitment to the well-being of employees, retirees, and their families.

The EHCT is projected to improve healthcare access and quality for Telangana’s government employees and retirees, giving them peace of mind and financial relief during medical emergencies.
