Temperatures reach 40°C in Hyderabad, City Police issue advisory

A police advisory was issued to residents as the maximum temperature reached 40 degrees Celsius in Hyderabad. There were recommendations to drink water regularly, never leave children, adults, or pets in cars, schedule activities in the cooler parts of the day, and try to provide assistance to others whenever you can.

In the next four days, the maximum temperature is expected in the city to be within the 36-40 degrees range, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). On the other hand, in the evenings, partly cloudy skies with light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur.

Mercury’s rising levels have also caused a rise in sales of coconut water, sugarcane, buttermilk, ice cream, and watermelons in the state.

However, Bangara Hills, Kukatpally, Khairatabad, Ameerpet, Punjagutta, Madhapur, Shaik Pet, Mehdipatnam, LB Nagar, Uppal, Charminar, and several other areas experienced unexpected rains in the evening, which cooled things down a bit.

Sudden rains force diversion of flights

On Thursday, heavy summer showers prevented normal flight operations from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. The rain disrupted at least four flights because the inclement weather made landing at RGIA nearly impossible.

Information from official sources indicates that the Mumbai to Hyderabad flight had to be diverted to Vijayawada, the Delhi to Hyderabad flight had to be diverted to Bengaluru, the Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad flight had to be diverted to Vijayawada and the Bengaluru to Hyderabad flight was diverted to Nagpur.

As per the Telangana State Development Planning Society, the thunderstorms and rain which had lashed the city were reported to be more severe on the outskirts and in the districts, with the city recording a maximum rainfall of 16.5 millimetres in Balanagar till 8 pm, while in Aliyabad near Shamirpet, the rainfall was 48 millimetres.
