Temperatures rise in Hyderabad; Borabanda records 34.6 degrees

We are only in the month of February and the sun is hitting straight with intense heat in the city.

On Thursday, the temperature reached 33.9 degrees Celsius, with Borabanda recording the highest temperature of 34.6 degrees Celsius.

Many areas in the city, including Uppal, Kapra, Qutubullapur, Serilingampally, Khairathabad, Shaikpet, Asifnagar, Bahadurpura, and Saidabad, have also experienced sweltering heat with temperatures reaching 32 degrees.

The IMDH (India Meteorological Department – Hyderabad) forecasted a sequence of unusually warm days over the next four days.

However, most areas will experience nighttime temperatures between 14 and 16 degrees Celsius.

According to a report by the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) said that diurnal variations of maximum temperature during summer show the day temperature gradual rise from 11.30 am to 3.30 pm, and post 4.30 pm, the temperature shows a sudden fall of 6 degrees Celsius to 8 degrees Celsius in two hours from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm.

Hotter summer expected this year

Day temperatures in the state capital are expected to reach 32 degrees Celsius next week, indicating an early start to the summer season, and weather experts analyzing climatic trends predict punishingly high temperatures.

The El Nino climate pattern, which is associated with extreme heat waves and weak monsoons, is expected to emerge around this summer season, according to the most recent global meteorological models.

“From February 11, day temperatures will gradually begin rising in the city, thus marking the beginning of summer season. However, nights and early mornings will remain cool until February last week,” says Tarani Balaji, known as Telangana Weatherman on Twitter.

Balaji predicts that this year’s summer will be hot and humid due to the El Nino event. “The track of summer cyclones decides the intensity of heat waves and pre-monsoon thunderstorms, which we can’t say now itself. As of now, we expect some strong heat, unlike last few years,” he added.
