The old building of Osmania Hospital locked

Hyderabad: The old heritage structure of the Osmania Hospital was locked today. The director of public health had earlier issued a circular to the Superintendent of the hospital asking him to vacate the old building after shifting the patients and today the old building was locked.

It may be recalled that one of the oldest and biggest government-run hospitals Osmania has its history. 1168 bedded Well Known Hospital of the City was built by the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan and it was opened for the public in 1910.

The hospital was in the headlines recently when the drain and rainwater gushed its ground floor after rain battered in the City. The medicos and the attendants of the patients had faced untold hardships due to the water that forced the administration to shift the patients to the first floor very next day.

The old heritage building is in dilapidated condition. It is learned that the government wants to build twin towers in the place after razing the same. The medicos had recently agitated and demanded to build a new structure after demolishing the old one.

Osmania general hospital is one of the oldest hospitals in Telangana located at Nayapul, Afzalgunj, Hyderabad. It is managed by the  Government of Telangana and is one of the largest hospitals in the Telangana state.
