The Telangana govt is considering a new tourism policy

The Tourism department expects a big boost in this year’s budget, as officials anticipate an allocation of over Rs 2,000 crore, which is double the money allocated in last year’s budget, thanks to several big projects in the pipeline and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s statement that the State will have a shooting facility for Hollywood.

After a two-year hiatus in visitor activity, the tourism industry, particularly domestic tourism, is projected to reawaken. The State government is also planning to take advantage of the opportunity by doing a number of infrastructure improvements in the state as well as developing a new tourist policy. The tourism department has started steps to develop facilities at 62 locations across the state, according to officials. Some of the projects started before the Covid period but were unable to finish due to the epidemic.

According to the official, the Chief Minister approved Rs 1,500 crore in funds for the development of tourism attractions at Ranganayak Sagar, Mallannasagar, Kondapochamma Sagar, Baswapur, and Edupayala. After dedicating Mallannasagar to the nation, the Chief Minister urged Finance Minister T Harish Rao and Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud to develop the area as an international tourism destination with amenities for destination weddings and filming. The tourist facilities would be built on 600 acres of land in Siddipet, according to a senior official from the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation.

Similarly, tourism attractions will be created at Karimnagar’s Lower Manair Dam and Sircilla’s Mid Manair’s Annapurna Sagar. At Mallannasagar, there will be facilities for filming and water sports, as well as resorts at Ranganayak Sagar, according to the official. Aside from that, the government plans to improve infrastructure at Ramappa Temple, which was recently designated as a World Heritage Site. In terms of tourist policy, the official stated that they had studied the policies of states such as Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and others and were preparing a report. The report will be delivered to the Chief Minister as soon as possible.
