Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar invoked P.D. Act against Shaik Shoukath, a property offender of Afzalgunj Police Station on July 26.
The Commissioner said the accused Shaik Shoukath, 24, a painter of Hafeez Baba Nagar, Chandrayangutta, has been committing offences of theft of cell phones, by diverting attention of passengers travelling in sharing autos under the guise of adjustment of seats in an organized manner along with his associates in the limits of Hyderabad Police Commissionerate to make easy money.
The Commissioner said the accused committed 23 such offences under the limits of Hyderabad and Cyberabad Police Commissionerates and has been creating panic among the general public, who wish to travel in sharing auto rickshaws and they were scared to carry cell phones, cash and other valuables, thereby adversely effecting the public order, apart from disturbing the peace, tranquillity and social harmony in the society.
The Afzalgunj Police arrested Shaik Shoukath on February 8 this year and remanded him to judicial custody. The Preventive Detention order was executed on him on August 10 and was lodged in Central Prison, Chanchalguda. (NSS)
