This time, Hyderabad’s Numaish will present a lively look from day one

If everything goes to plan, the All India Industrial Exhibition, also known as Numaish, will have a lively look from day one itself, with all stalls opening and catering to visitors.

The exhibition society hopes that at least 80% of stall owners will begin operating their businesses on the first day. “We want to give more mileage to the visitors and stall owners. Traders are being encouraged to keep things ready before the official inaugural and kick-start business,” said exhibition society vice president, Ashvin Margam.

The society will begin issuing allotment letters to stall owners on Monday. Around 1,200 stalls will be assigned, with over 2,000 applications received from traders across the country.

The number of stalls was reduced for security and fire prevention reasons, allowing more space for emergency vehicles to move.

The society is also requesting that the exhibition be extended until at least 11.30 p.m. on weekends when there are large crowds.

“Markets are open till midnight across the city. So we are seeking relaxation from the regular timing of 10.30 pm for the exhibition so that people don’t crowd and visitors get ample time to shop and relax here,” he said.

Hyderabad’s Numaish shut due to Covid situation

Due to Covid pandemic-related issues, the Numaish could not be held as planned in the previous four years. In the years preceding the pandemic, approximately 20 lakh people visited the Numaish during the 45-day period, with attendance reaching 40,000 on weekends.

Since the exhibition was closed for two seasons due to the Covid pandemic and schedule changes, the society suffered financial losses.  “Hence, we are increasing the entry fee to Rs. 40 per person. We run educational institutions and do philanthropic work with the money earned through sale of ticket and leasing space for stalls. After four years we are increasing the entry fee,” said Ashvin Margam.

Following complaints about telecom network issues, the exhibition society is in talks with various companies about installing additional mobile towers to improve network connectivity. “We are also planning to provide free ‘Wifi’ facility to the visitors,” he added.
