Three New Attractions Added to Nehru Zoological Park as It Enters 60th Year

The Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad, which celebrated its 60th anniversary on Thursday, has added three new attractions. These include Meerkat and Marmoset enclosures, as well as an open fish pond with various types of fish.

Rakesh Mohan Dobriyal, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), inaugurated them on Thursday. In addition, the Asiatic lion born in the zoo a few years ago was named Aditi by zoo officials on Thursday.

The zoo, which is known as the country’s leading zoological park, has completed 59 years and has entered its 60th year. As part of the 68th National Wildlife Week, the Telangana Forest Department organized special programs at the Nehru Zoo Park.

Later, large-scale Zoo Day celebrations were held on the premises.

Every year, the first week of October is celebrated as Vanya Prani saptah, which also coincides with Zoo Day, said Dobriyal. Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad is regarded as one of Asia’s best zoos in all aspects of wildlife conservation.

It was also said that the Zoo is gradually returning to its pre-Covid state. With the number of visitors increasing, the Zoo is taking steps to ensure that they have access to all of the facilities.

Curator Rajasekhar read out the Nehru Zoological Park’s annual report for the previous financial year. Dobriyal stated that there will be grand Diamond Jubilee celebrations next year.

The Nehru Zoo is regarded as the country’s leading zoo park due to the dedication of its employees. Visitors should also be respectful of animals, and parents should ensure that their children develop an appreciation for forests and animals, he added.

Gardener S.Ramchander, Mali, animal-keeper Jeelani Khan, and traffic controller Syed Babu received the KVS Babu award for outstanding service.

Nagi Reddy and his team from Lion Safari Park receive the best enclosure award. Zoo employees were also recognized for their outstanding performance.
