To study Mission Kakatiya, a 3-member Punjab team will arrive in Hyderabad on Tuesday

The three-member team from Punjab Agricultural University will arrive in Hyderabad on Tuesday to study the Mission Kakatiya ponds, check dams, and underground water recharging technologies used in Telangana.

On March 1, the three-member team led by Dr. Manmohanjit Singh, Director of Regional Research Station (RRS), Ballowal Saunkhri, Punjab Agricultural University, will visit the Mission Kakatiya ponds and ground water recharge structures in the Siddipet district.

They planned to visit Mission Kakatiya ponds and ground water recharge structures in Mahabubnagar district on March 2.

After returning from Mahabubnagar, the team would meet with Special Chief Secretary (Irrigation) Rajat Kumar and senior engineers from the Irrigation Department in the evening.

The Irrigation Engineer-In-Chief will give a presentation on Mission Kakatiya. The team will depart for Punjab on March 3.

On February 16, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann visited Kondapochamma Sagar, Mission Kakatiya ponds, and check dams in Siddipet district. Upon his return to Punjab, he met with officials from Punjab Agricultural University and directed them to study and report on the Mission Kakatiya program in Telangana and how multi-level water resource development has been carried out in the State.

Following the direction of the Punjab Chief Minister, the three-member team is visiting the state to study the outcomes of the implementation of the Mission Kakatiya program in the State.

Punjab Chief Minister said that Telangana’s canal-based irrigation system which efficiently uses river water, would be replicated in Punjab as part of his government’s efforts to check the depleting groundwater table.

Mann praised the Telangana government’s efforts in the efficient use of water by implementing the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS). He described the Telangana water conservation model as a revolutionary model aimed at holistically recharging the water table.
