1.05 lakh people die due to tobacco consumption in various forms in Bihar every year. Dr V P Singh said that at least 288 people lose lives in the state due to tobacco consumption every day, Patron of Voice of Tobacco Victims.
2739 people, addicted to tobacco consumption die in the country every year and tobacco addicts were dying mainly due to cancer and heart related diseases.
GATES 2 survey 2016-17 as saying that at least 25.9 lakh people were consuming in one form or another. Mr Singh said the number of people addicted to smokeless consumption of tobacco was more than those addicted to smoking tobacco.
