Torrential showers bring respite to City. Uppal tops the state, Amberpet in City

With a fluctuating spell of showers in the city today, that lasted for almost 40 minutes, has left people heave a sigh of relief from the scorching heat wave prevailing in the region since the beginning of this month.

The torrential shower that began at 4.40 pm and concluded at 5.20 pm on Saturday night, took the people especially the two wheeler riders on the roads by surprise who were seen running for shelter to get themselves safe from whipping rain drops. Lucky are the ones who find refuge in nearby shops while others stuck at signals were drenched in the showers. However, the rain continued to lash the city for 40 minutes and left the region for rinsing before shaking off.

The territorial showers in the city on Saturday might have prompted the district administration especially the officials of the Urban Biodiversity Wing to prepare for pre-monsoon preparations involving propagation of nurseries especially in peripheral districts of Hyderabad city.

As per the reports, out of a total 33 districts in the state only areas of Hyderabad, Vikarabad and erstwhile Rangareddy districts received light to moderate rainfall on Saturday while other regions failed to attract the clouds over the sky.

While Uppal in Medchal-Malkajgiri district of erstwhile Rangareddy district tops in receiving the showers in the entire Telangana state, the Amberpet mandal in Hyderabad district scores highest rainfall on Saturday.

Uppal in Medchal-Malkajgiri district received highest rainfall of 35.5 millimetres followed by Saroornagar in Rangareddy district where 27.8 mm downpour was recorded and Vikarabad headquarter in Vikarabad district with 19.8 mm rainfall.

As per the reports generated from  Automated Weather Station (AWSs) in Hyderabad district, Amberpet mandal received large excess rainfall of 8.5 millimetres among all the 16 mandals where AWSs were located followed by Charminaar (6.8mm), Saidabad (6.8mm), Bahadurpura (4.0mm) and Himayath Nagar mandal (2.8mm).
