TRS counter-protests against BJP in Karimnagar

A counter-protest was held on Tuesday in Karimnagar town by both the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and Bharatiya Janata Party.

As TRS activists demonstrated against BJP workers attacking MLC K Kavitha’s house, saffron party activists demonstrated over the arrest of the BJP’s state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar and other party officials.

In response to Monday’s attack on MLC Kavitha’s house in Hyderabad, TRS activists led by Mayor Y Sunil Rao burned the effigy of BJP here at Telangana chowk. A TRS effigy was also burned at Kaman Chowk by BJP workers.

Bandi Sanjay’s arrest gets condemned by the Telangana BJP unit.

The BJP Telangana unit has condemned the arrest of its president, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and claimed that the police stormed the ‘Praja Sangrama Yatra’ camp at Station Ghanupur on Tuesday while he and other workers were silently protesting the filing of false cases against party supporters for highlighting MLC K. Kavitha’s alleged involvement in the Delhi liquor scam.

In a press statement, General Secretary G. Premender Reddy accused the police of being partisan by not preventing TRS supporters from reaching the walkathon camp and instead targeting BJP leaders and workers.

“The ruling TRS is unable to digest the party’s growing support and has made every effort to divert attention away from the liquor scam and corruption charges.” We call on all democratic forces to unite against this dictatorial regime,” he said and urged party workers to hold “peaceful” protests at all Mandal offices between 5 and 6 p.m.

Union Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Development of the Northeast Region G. Kishan Reddy and national general secretary Tarun Chugh both condemned the party chief’s arrest, calling it “police highhandedness” and “murder of democracy.” They predicted the end of the TRS regime soon.

Meanwhile, Mr. Sanjay Kumar chastised the TS police for filing an attempted murder case against party leaders who were protesting at the house of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter K. Kavitha demanding an answer to the allegations in the liquor scam despite “clear evidence that TRS goons have attacked BJP workers.”
