TRS MLA’s son receives clean chit from Hyderabad police in accident case

Bodhan MLA Mohammed Shakir Amir’s son, Raheel Amir, received a clean chit from Jubilee Hills Police since he was not driving the vehicle involved in the accident that killed two-month-old Ranveer Chouhan.

The accident occurred on March 17. After the investigation, it was discovered that Raheel’s cousin, 19-year-old Syed Afnan Ahmed, was driving at the time of the accident, and he was arrested.

Three additional people were in the car with Raheel and Afnan. The police also stated that the youngster could not have been driving under the influence of alcohol because it was a dry day due to the Holi festival.

An officer stated that they could not have conclusively proved that the accused was in an inebriated condition as they caught them after 24 hours, so no testing would establish it.

The police had originally intended to record Raheel’s and others involved in the accident’s statements as eyewitnesses in the case but had yet to do so.

At around 8:30 PM on March 17th, a vehicle hit three women selling balloons on Jubilee Hills Road No 45. Two infants were being carried by one of the women. When she was hit by the car, she dropped her two-month-old baby on the road, and he died on the spot.

Following the accident, those in the SUV abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene, but what drew attention was that the vehicle had an MLA sticker on it.

The police identified the youngsters and arrested them a day after the accident.

MLA Shakir Amir has expressed his regret over the incident and emphasised that the car belonged to his cousin. The MLA stated that he occasionally drives his car, which is why the vehicle had the MLA sticker. He claimed that his son and others fled the scene after being attacked by a group of persons.
