TS Top in Rural Development Works : Dayakar Rao

Telangana Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao today claimed that Telangana is the first in the State to provide employment to workers in rural areas.

Under the MGNREGA program the state is able to provide cent percent work for the poor to get financial assistance, the minister said.

The minister inaugurated a dairy and calendar of employees at Ministers quarters here. We are able to complete these works as per directions of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, he said. However the Centre reduced the funds for the scheme, he charged. This time the Centre reduced funds in the budget to Rs 73000 cr from the previous Rs 98000 cr for the same, Rao deplored.

Speaking on the occasion the minister called upon the officials and staff of the departments to coordinate to give more work to the poor in the villages. Our state is number one in giving full works to the laborers under the rural employment guarantee scheme, Dayakar Rao claimed. Out of 13.75 cr working days a year we have so far given 13.40 cr working days to the laborers he said. With this Telangana achieved the target of the total work by completing 97.97 percent of works so far, he said.
