Turkey Relaxes PCR Test Results From 16 Countries For Travel

With the rising cases of Covid 19 and the world banning flights from different nations, the Turkish government seems to be taking a different path. The Turkish Health Ministry recently announced the number of countries that would not require negative PCR test results of Covid 19 from May 15.

Turkey Lifts 16 Nations From PCR Test Results on Arrival

As per the latest reports, the Turkish Health Ministry is relaxing some rules for foreign passengers. They have removed the mandate for a negative Covid 19 PCR test result to enter the country from 16 other nations. The nations include China, Vietnam, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Estonia, Thailand, South Korea, Luxembourg, Latvia and the UK.

Turkey on Sunday reported a total of 25,980 new cases of the pandemic virus. Out of these 2587 are symptomatic patients. The total number of Covid 19 cases have now reached 4,875,388.

The death toll from the virus rose by 340 to 40,844, while the total recoveries climbed to 4,480,381 after 75,182 more recovered in the last 24 hours.

At the same time, the rate of pneumonia in Covid-19 patients stands at 2.4 percent and the number of seriously ill patients is 3,532 in the country.

Over the past 24 hours, a total of 240,145 tests were conducted, taking the overall number of tests in Turkey to 47,744,338.

Turkey started mass COVID-19 vaccination on January 14 and more than 13,815,000 people have been vaccinated so far.

Nigeria Bans Passengers From Turkey Amidst Rising Covid 19 Cases

Amidst the rising Covid 19 cases, Nigeria has banned the entry of non-Nigerian passengers from Turkey, India and Brazil. The announcement was made last night by the health authorities. However, the travel ban does not apply on people who are transiting through the mentioned countries.

The statement released by the authorities said that it is a precautionary measure to minimise the spread of Covid 19 from other countries.
