Twitter Sues Texas Attorney General Over Content Moderation Probe

Twitter is suing an Attorney General from Texas for opening up an investigation regarding the ways Twitter handles their content moderation.

Twitter Accuses Attorney General Of Harassment

As per the reports, the micro-blogging platform has filed a lawsuit against the Attorney General named Ken Paxton. They claim that the investigation launched by him is an attempt to “intimidate, harass and target Twitter”. This comes after Twitter had banned the former President of the United States of America, Donald Trump.

The company has asked the court to stop Paxton’s attempts towards massive amounts of information which is with Twitter’s content moderation system. The complaint submitted in the court said that Twitter had been trying to reach an agreement with Paxton for several weeks to put a limit to his demands. But the conversations failed.

“This retaliatory conduct violates the Constitution.”

Twitter further said that they want to be transparent with the people. But it is not possible for them to put every aspect of content moderation out in the public domain.

Twitter Banned 45th US President Donald Trump

In January this year, Twitter had blocked Donald Trump as he was being accused of inciting violence in the US Capitol. At that time, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey defended the move and said it was the right thing to do because of the violence happening outside.
