Two Held for Selling Remdesivir Injections in Black Market

The City Police have arrested two persons for procuring and selling Covid-19 antiviral drug Remdesivir injections (Covifor) in the black market. Police seized five Remdesivir injections and two cell phones from their possession.

The sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone Team along with Afzalgunj police nabbed two persons Kiran Kumar (35) of Bhonagir and Mohd Khaled (23) of Chandrayangutta on Monday when they illegally procuring and selling Remdesivir injections (Covifor) Antiviral medicine for Covid-19 in the black market to needy customers at the rate of Rs.25,000 to Rs. 35,000  each, without any valid documents, police release here said today.

The accused Kiran Kumar completed his B-pharmacy and worked in the medical shop. Basing on his experience two months back he opened a medical agency at Medipally, Boduppal. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation, he observed demand for Remdesivir (Covifor) through known sources with a minimum price selling them at the rate of 30,000 through Mohd Khaled (Security Guard at Osmania General Hospital) and e earning easy money.

The arrested accused and seized material handed over to SHO Afzalgunj police for further investigation.
