Ulavacharu restaurant in Gachibowli charged for selling goli soda without MRP

After a citizen complained about selling soda without MRP and manufacturing dates, the Legal Metrology Department in Hyderabad filed a lawsuit against Ulavacharu eatery in Gachibowli for Unfair Trade Practices.

On the final bill, two bottles of Goli soda were charged at Rs 178, according to the complainant. Furthermore, the MRP, production, and expiry dates were not printed on the bottles.

According to a copy given by the Legal Meteorology Department, a complaint has been registered against the restaurant for a violation of Rule 6(1) of the Legal Meteorology Rules, 2011, following inspections at trading premises on February 2nd.

Vinay Vangala, a social activist from Hyderabad and a recent visitor to this restaurant, stated, “I was surprised to see the soda rate on the bill. I attempted to locate the missing MRP on the goods. Selling products without MRP is an unfair trading activity, which has been reported to the legal metrology department ”

Vinay said consumers are encouraged to examine MRP, production, and expiry dates, among other things, to ensure their health and wealth protection. If you discover any institution engaging in unfair commercial practices, please bring it to the attention of the appropriate authorities so that action can be taken.

Unpaid challans amounting to Rs 600 Cr

A V Ranganath, the Joint Commissioner of Traffic in Hyderabad, stated that they are working on extending some relief to persons who have yet to pay their challans.

“Many people have been thrown into poverty as a result of the pandemic. The Hyderabad Traffic Police will provide some relief by reducing the pending challan amount by a specific proportion as a humanitarian gesture and in an endeavour to reduce people’s difficulties “Ranganath stated to News Meter.

He stated that the discount rate had not been determined. Ranganath also stated that since 2014, the backlog of unpaid challans had reached Rs 600 crore.

Enforcing fines alone may not always be enough. The major reason for issuing challans is to prevent accidents caused by speeding. Research is under underway that analyses accident data from the last 4-5 years, he explained.

Depending on the findings of the study, the Hyderabad Traffic Police Department will alter its operations in an effort to prevent accidents, overspeeding, and drunken driving.

So far, the investigation has discovered that the majority of accidents occur at night. This year, the Hyderabad Traffic Police Department is also aiming to acquire more speed guns. They are especially interested in rifles that can fire accurately at night, he stated.

The traffic police in Hyderabad cover six zones (South, North, Central, East, West, and West-central). 2500 traffic police officers are working out of 25 police stations.
