Union Health Minister slammed for not checking facts by KTR

Telangana Industry Minister KT Rama Rao criticized union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya for failing to check facts and reminded him that Telangana had asked for medical colleges, but no medical colleges had been delivered.

The union minister on Monday found fault with the Industries Minister’s criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not sanctioning medical colleges.

The Union Minister even responded to the Industries Minister’s Sunday tweet by asking “How many medical college proposals have your Telangana State Government sent?’ Zero’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sanctioned the highest government medical colleges in the shortest time, without partiality, to the States which made proposals.”

A sharp response to the Union Minister was shared by KT Rama Rao, who tweeted: Mansukh Ji, Wish you had a review before you chose to respond. Attached are responses of your predecessors to the requests from Telangana Health Ministers from 2015 & 2019 Telangana Govt has consistently requested medical colleges but the fact is your Govt delivered ZERO

In addition, he tweeted, Before you jump up & respond, let me also remind you that your Govt failed to even fill the 544 Jobs Vacant in AIIMS Bibinagar AIIMS was sanctioned during the UPA Govt & the fact is not ONE educational institution was sanctioned by NPA Govt; neither by your Dept nor by HRD.

As part of a centrally sponsored scheme, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare supports the establishment of new colleges of medicine in existing districts and referral hospitals.

During Phase III of this scheme, all States/UTs were encouraged to submit proposals for consideration by the Ministry, but Telangana State has not yet submitted a proposal for the establishment of a new medical college. Additionally, all 75 medical colleges approved under Phase-III of this scheme have already been allocated,” the government responded to a Parliament question.

According to Mandaviya, sending a simple letter versus a formal proposal is different according to the requirements of the scheme.
