Home Minister Amit Shah tested positive for COVID 19

New Delhi: Home Minister Amit Shah, has been tested positive for the covid-19.

The minister took to Twitter to speak about his health. His tweet, originally written in Hindi, roughly translates to, “Noticing the initial symptoms of coronavirus, I got tested and the report came out positive. I am fine but on the advice of doctors, I am getting admitted to a hospital. I request all the people who came in contact with me in the past few days to self isolate and get tested.”

Messages, wishing him an early recovery, started pouring in from people over the country. Many politicians too sent their regards and concerns by posting the same on Twitter.

The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamta Banerji tweeted about Amit Shah’s news and wished him well for his recovery.

She wrote, “Heard about the Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShahJi being tested positive for #COVID-19. Wishing him a speedy recovery. My prayers are with him and his family!”

Similarly, Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of the national capital, Delhi and Assam’s minister, HimantaBiswa Sharma too, shared across their concerns and well wishes for the Union Minister.

Mr.Kejriwal tweeted, “I pray for the speedy recovery of Hon’ble Home Minister Shri @AmitShahji,” while Mr Sharma said, “My good wishes for your speedy recovery Adarniya @AmitShahji. With your resolute determination and strong will power, you will soon come out of this.”

Abhishek Singhvi and Jamyang Tsering Namgyal were amongst the many others who tweeted their prayers over Mr. Shah’s health update. Irrespective of the political party they belong to, people flooded Twitter with speedy recovery messages for him as the virus isn’t sparing anyone.

Mr. Shah has been at the forefront in the covid war as he is the home minister of India.

The country’s tally of coronavirus cases stands at a staggering 1.8 million while the number of fatalities reported is more than 38,000.

While the government is saying that the recovery rate is high compared to the death rate, the latter cannot be overlooked and brushed down. Only when the curve gets flattened, can there be a cause for a small celebration. Before that, everyone is advised to religiously follow the precautionary measures issued in the guidelines by the government of India and WHO in order to remain safe from the virus.

Some reports also say that there are long term effects of the virus which also include irreversible lung damage. Hence, the thought that even after getting infected there will be full recovery, without the chance of any adverse effects, needs to be erased.
