UP Government Allows Madrasa Classes To Conduct Online Amidst Declining Cases

In the wake of the pandemic and the risk of opening up schools and colleges, the Uttar Pradesh government has taken a different step to digitalise education. They have given permission to conduct the classes online for the Madrasa students.

Madrasas To Conduct Classes Online

As per the latest reports, with the Uttar Pradesh government permitting the Madrasa classes to be conducted online. The classes are to benefit around 18 lakh students enrolled with them. The Madrasas will be free to choose between various social media platforms which can be used by all to create group chats.

Nand Gopal Nandi, the Cabinet Minister for Minority Welfare cleared that the UP Board of Madrasa Education’s proposal for online classes will be conducted from the first standard to the post-graduation level.

Nandi said that till the time the Madrasas cannot start to impart education physically, the proposal for online classes has been approved by the authorities. Reports suggest that there are currently 16,000 recognized Madrasas in the state. Out of these 560 are aided by the government.

These institutions have around 18 lakh students from the first standard (munshi/maulvi) to senior secondary (Aalim), Kamil (graduation), and Fazil (post-graduation). As per the Ramzan schedule, the madrasas were shut from April 14 to May 24.

The minister said that the cases in the state are on a decline and the pandemic has had a huge impact on education. The online classes are expected to make up for the loss in the syllabus and will begin soon.

Uttar Pradesh Shows Sharp Decline in Covid 19 Cases 

Reports suggest that Uttar Pradesh recently has shown a sharp decline in the number of the Covid 19 cases. From the peak of 3,10,783 on April 30, the cases have now come down to 62,271 on Tuesday.
