USA is the biggest importer of goods from Telangana, says report

The United States of America is said to be the biggest importer of goods from Telangana, according to the Telangana Socio-Economic Outlook 2022 report.

Pharmaceuticals and organic chemicals accounted for 65% of all items exported. According to the Telangana Socio-Economic Outlook 2022, the United States was the biggest importer of goods from Telangana, importing more than 26.3 percent of total exports by value.

According to the Export Preparedness Index 2020 published by NITI Aayog, Telangana ranked second among land-locked states and sixth overall in terms of export preparedness in the financial year 2021-22 (until January 2022), with 3,185 approvals granted through the TS-iPASS, bringing in new investments worth Rs 6,965 crore.

Telangana continuously ranked among top three states in India in Ease of Doing Business

Since 2016, Telangana has continuously ranked among the top three states in India in the Ease of Doing Business list. This is also evident in the State’s efforts through initiatives such as TS iPASS, as well as support through the establishment of a 1.5 lakh acre land bank and 63 special economic zones.

Telangana has progressed from a power deficit state in 2014 to a power surplus state, with a contracted capacity of 16.6 GW by August 2021, giving uninterrupted power to over 16 lakh industrial units in the state.

The districts of Sangareddy, Rangareddy, and Bhadradri Kothagudem received the most investment in the state. The biggest number of jobs were created as a result of TS-iPASS investments in the Warangal Rural region, accounting for 11.6% of all TS-iPASS jobs created in the state.

Between 2015-16 and 2021-22, the number of approvals granted to the food processing and agriculture industries increased steadily. Pharmaceuticals and chemicals have drawn an increasing share of total investment, rising from less than 10% of total investment in 2015-16 to 46% of total investment in 2021-22. Renewable energy has seen its proportion of investment more than double, from 10.4 per cent in 2015-16 to 19 per cent by 2020-21.

Between 2016-17 and 2020-21, the IT sector remained the dominating sector in terms of the creation of employment opportunities, accounting for up to 50% of all jobs generated by enterprises approved by TS-iPASS. However, the pharmaceutical sector generated the majority of new jobs (42.9%) in 2021-22.

With a possible investment of Rs 64,000 crore and employment of over 4.2 lakh people, Hyderabad Pharma City is planned to be the world’s largest pharmaceutical cluster when completed. The MedicalDevices Park covers 302 acres and has over 50 companies with manufacturing and R&D capabilities. The park’s overall investment is close to Rs 1,424 crore, and it has created over 7,000 jobs.

The government established the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal, the state’s highest cotton-growing area, in 2017. The park, which spans across 2,000 acres, has an investment potential of Rs 11,586 crore. Major national textile businesses such as Ganesha Ecosphere, Youngone Corporation, and Kitex have proposed investments in the park totalling Rs 2,000 crore.

In addition, the state has built a new apparel park in Rajanna Sircilla in 2021 at a cost of Rs 174.8 crore. Several companies, including Gokaldas Images and Texport Industries, have committed to establishing plants in the park.

Telangana’s food processing industry processes 25% of agricultural and allied sector output and adds 12.5% to the value of marketable agricultural products.

The state hopes to attract Rs 25,000 crore in capital investment and employ over 70,000 people. According to the report, the state has four main food processing parks in Nizamabad, Khammam, Jogulamba Gadwal, and Zaheerabad.
