Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat Resigns Over “Below Average” Work

Trivendra Singh Rawat, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand has resigned today from his position. This comes after he recently made a trip to Delhi where he met with the BJP leadership.

Uttarakhand CM Resigns Few Days Before 4 Years In Service

As per the latest reports, the 60 years old Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat handed over his resignation to Governor Baby Rani Maurya. This comes just a few days before he would have completed four years of being a CM. He took over the office in 2017 after the BJP won 57 seats out of 69 member assembly.

He said in a statement that he has been working in the political business for some time. And the party, BJP gave him the golden years of his life (4 years of being a Chief Minister). He appreciated the netizens of giving him the chance to lead the state in spite of the fact that he was from a rural background.

“Now that party has taken a collective decision to entrust the responsibility of state chief ministership to some other leader.”

Reports suggest that there have been questions and concerns about Trivendra Singh Rawat’s leadership. It is said that there have been several meetings in Delhi amongst the party claiming that Rawat’s leadership has not been as expected. And this would further hurt the polls.

Dhan Singh Rawat Might Be The New Chief Minister

Reports suggest that there are talks going about Dhan Singh Rawat being the new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. However, it is not official yet. The BJP party will have a meeting on Wednesday to choose the new leader.

However, the replacement of Trivendra Singh Rawat is a bit unusual as it generally requires a no-confidence motion. Following this, the ex-CM Harish Rawat from the Congress Party slammed BJP and claimed that the removal was “admission of failure”.

At the same time, Manish Sisodia from Aam Aadmi Party also said that the BJP has “conceded” before 2022. He further claimed that in the past four years, they had not done anything and they were (reportedly) trying to hide their failures. He concluded the tweet by asking the BJP government to apologise to the Uttarakhand citizens.

Trivendra Singh Rawat’s government has been criticised for handling the Chamoli Flash Flood. The Supreme Court criticised them for pushing work even during the times of crisis.
