Vice-President’s visit to Hyderabad: Traffic advisory released

As a result of Vice President Venkaiah Naidu’s upcoming visit on July 14, Hyderabad traffic will either be diverted or stopped, the Telangana traffic department announced on Wednesday.

During the morning of Thursday, at 10 AM, the Vice President will attend an event organized by Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Society.

As a result, Vice President will travel the following route – Raghavendra Colony, Shivarampally, Rajendra Nagar, Peddamma Temple, Jubilee Hills Check Post, NFCL, Taj Krishna Junction, Care Hospital, Masabtank Flyover, NMDC, and PV Narasimha Rao Expressway.

At 11:50 AM, when the event is finished, the Vice President will proceed to his residence along the same route.

Commuters are asked to consider their routes and timings before traveling and to cooperate with traffic authorities.

TRS up for joint Vice President candidate

After supporting Yashwant Sinha in the upcoming presidential election, Telangana Rashtra Samiti, the ruling party of Telangana, is now pitching for a joint Opposition candidate in the upcoming vice-presidential elections against the BJP-led NDA.

Party sources say CM K. Chandrashekar Rao is contacting non-BJP leaders over the phone to establish a consensus on fielding a joint Opposition candidate for Vice-President.

According to sources, CM Chandrashekar Rao wants to unite non-BJP parties against the BJP by making use of the upcoming Vice-Presidential election to oppose Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s NDA government.

Members of both Houses of Parliament vote for the Vice President in an electoral college. There are 16 members of the TRS in Parliament, nine in the Lok Sabha and seven in the Rajya Sabha. Non-BJP party leaders are expected to meet in Delhi in the next few days to discuss fielding a joint opposition candidate and finalizing a candidate for the vice-presidential election. However, it is not clear who will represent the TRS at this meeting, although Chandrashekar Rao is said to be considering designating a senior party MP. The TRS did not attend the June last week meeting convened by non-BJP parties in Delhi to choose candidates.
