Viral video about Telangana Secretariat termed fake; building remains unaffected by rain

FactCheck_Telangana, an official Telangana government fact-checking handle, has labeled a viral video circulating on social media platforms about the newly-built Dr. BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat as false and misleading.

According to their tweet, the video claimed that there is stagnant water inside the secretariat due to the city’s recent record-breaking rains. Other videos have claimed that the building has water leaks and cracks.

Debunking the fake video, the fact-checking account of the Telangana Government wrote, “The building shown in the video is a commercial complex outside the new secretariat that is still under construction. The construction of this complex is not completed yet.”

“The water that was stagnant on this under-construction building is being falsely reported as the Secretariat building,” they clarified. The fact-checking account also asked the public to be alert and cautious against such false propaganda videos.

On April 30, Telangana Chief Minister Kalavakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao inaugurated the Dr. BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat. The building was designed with great detail and planning by Chennai-based Ponni M Concessao and her husband Oscar G Concessao of Oscar & Ponni Architects.

The building, termed as a symbol of Telangana’s progress, boasts off two massive domes. National emblem atop the huge domes has taken the building to its planned height of 265 feet, making it the tallest state Secretariat in the country.

The integrated complex housing the offices of the chief minister, ministers, chief secretary and all other secretaries and heads of departments, reflects the pride of Telangana and would stand as a role model for other states, says the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government.

Built at a cost of over Rs 600 crore, the Secretariat is a six-storey structure with seven lakh square feet of built-up space and equipped with all modern facilities.
