Waddepally, Bhadrakali, and Dharmasagar reservoirs soon have boating facilities

Tourism officials are preparing estimations now that the Hanamkonda Collector has given his approval for the commencement of boating services in the Waddepally and Bhadrakali reservoirs.

Boating services are expected to resume at the Dharmasagar reservoir, one of the most famous tourist destinations in Hanamkonda district, as well as at the historical Pakhal Lake near Narsampet town in Warangal district.

“The forest agency has suspended boating services at Pakhal Lake for technical reasons.” “However, we spoke to them and convinced them of the importance of resuming boating services on the lake for the benefit of both city people and tourists,” District Tourism Officer M Shivajai told.

He also stated that they were preparing estimates for the establishment of boating amenities in these summer storage tanks. Despite the fact that the proposal had been in place for several years, we were unable to deliver these facilities because several specialists and organisations had objected to the boating service on these lakes, alleging pollution produced by the operation of the services. However, the State government has lately introduced boating services in drinking water bodies such as Karimnagar’s Lower Manair Dam (LMD), Siddipet’s Komati cheruvu, Narsampet’s Madannapet cheruvu, and Khammam’s Lakaram cheruvu.

In light of this, the government has also granted the Tourism Department authorization to provide boating services in these drinking water sources,” Shivaji stated.

He hoped that permission to begin boating in Dharmasagar reservoir and Katkashapur tanks will be granted soon. “We have yet to impose a moratorium on the operation of boats in these reservoirs,” Shivaji added.

Meanwhile, Shivaranjani, a member of the Kakatiya Town Level Federation, stated that around 250 visitors come to Waddepally Lake on weekdays, with the number increasing to 300 on weekends.

The GWMC committed the Waddepally Lake management to the Kakatiya TLF. The entry cost is Rs 10 for each adult, Rs 5 for each child, and Rs 10 for vehicle parking.

Meanwhile, tourists must pay Rs 400 if they want to snap photographs using the cameras. It should be noted that the GWMC has undertaken construction works for Rs 14.41 crore at Waddepally tank bund in order to attract tourists to this picturesque location adjacent to the 100-foot road.
