WhatsApp chats cause BJP and TRS workers to clash in Sircilla

Mild tension prevailed at Yellareddypet police station when the activists from Telangana Rashtra Samithi and Bharatiya Janata Party clashed.

The controversy arose from a WhatsApp conversation between BJP worker Bonala Sai Kumar of Padira and TRS activist Chandanam Shivaramakrishna of Yellareddypet.

Enraged by Sai Kumar’s objectionable remarks, Shiva Kumar and other workers went to the former’s house on Friday night and argued with Sai Kumar’s parents, Manemma and Ravi, and abused them as he was not present at home.

Manemma, along with BJP workers, went to Yellareddypet police station to file a complaint after becoming angered by TRS activists’ behaviour.

When TRS activists learned about the incident, they rushed to the police station and got into an argument with BJP activists.

When the argument became heated, both groups clashed. The clashing mob was pacified and the situation was brought under control by the police. Repaka Ramachandram, a BJP worker, was injured in the attack.

Enraged by the TRS activists’ attack, BJP workers staged a dharna in front of the Sircilla-Kamareddy main road police station, demanding the arrest of ruling party workers.

Later, BJP workers attempted to march towards TRS district president Thota Agaiah’s home and tore TRS party flexies. Police lathi-charged the BJP workers in anticipation of the trouble.

In the meantime, BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar will visit Yellareddypet on Saturday with Cultural Council chairman Rasamai Balkish and MLA Sunke Ravishankar to console TRS district president Thota Agaiah, whose home was attacked by BJP workers.

This incident comes at a time when T Raja Singh, a Telangana BJP MLA, said that a “bulldozer” would be used against the TRS government’s alleged corruption and irregularities.

Singh made similar remarks in the run-up to the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, for which he was summoned by the Election Commission.

“Bandi Sanjay Ji (MP and state BJP president) has travelled to Delhi. Telangana will receive a strong bulldozer… We’ll run the thieves over with the bulldozer. We will use it to take down their corruption, scams,” he stated.
