Will Champions of Telangana Play into the Hands of Telangana Betrayers

Hyderabad : The leaders of TRS, the Mahakutami alliance partners and the BJP are leveling charges and counter charges against each other, in a bid to tarnish the image of other parties,   lure the voters and to grab power.  Ironically enough, each of these parties are calling the top leaders of other parties as liars, betrayers, deceivers, opportunists and what not, and trying to project themselves as honest, real peoples’ welfare seekers and the like.

One TRS activist pointed out that while making these serious allegations against the other party leadership, these leader are totally forgetting the past and the present status of their own party, how far it’s leaders fulfilled the poll promises made to the people and the accusations that were leveled against them by the others.  They are also forgetting the fact that the people are well aware of the history of each party and leader, their failures, their honesty/dishonesty and the like.

Take for instance: The TDP Telangana state President L Ramana says that the Mahakutami  comprising of Congress, TDP, TJS and CPI is  not for power, paisa (money) and positions, but only for fulfilling the aspirations of the Telangana  martyrs and to render justice to all sections of people and protect the self-respect of the people. The TRS activist remarked that the people of Telangana, who fought for separate State,  have not forgotten  the fact that both the Congress and the TDP, which have rules the  United A P State since its formation in 1956, have neglected the interests of Telangana area and its people in education, jobs, irrigation waters, development, etc., they have  brazenly violated the Gentlemen’s agreement and other formulae from time to time; systematically  insulted the people of Telangana;     and this was the reason for separate State agitation first in 1969 and later in 2002, since the TRS was formed by K Chandrasekhar Rao.

The Telangana activist   further observed that leaders of these two parties have failed to raise their voice against the Andhra leadership, when gross injustice was meted out to the region in almost of  fields.  It was this factor that worked in favour of the TRS in the 2014 elections, and the Congress and the TDP were dumped by the people of the region.  Ramana says that TDP has gained a place in the hearts of Telangana people and it was due to poisonous campaign carried out by KCR that the party had failed to make it in the elections. This statement makes it clear that the TDP leader thinks that the people were totally innocent and they were carried away by the vicious propaganda of KCR. This also amounts to belittling the Telangana people, the TRS supporter further argued. Corruption charges were levelld against the earlier Chief Ministers also.

The TDP, Congress, BJP leaders talk of failure of KCR to fulfill some of the promises made on the eve of 2014 elections. On this, the TRS supporter said that one should not forget the fact  that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, The TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu in Andhra Pradesh and the Congress and TDP leaders who have earlier ruled the State have all failed to fulfill the poll promises and these failures are known  to the people. While accusing KCR of failure to fulfill the promises, these leaders are totally forgetting the failures of their party leaders, he pointed out.

The TRS supporter also referred to the opposition leaders’ allegation of Family rule, and point out that the TDP leaders have no right to raise this issue, as its leader Chandrababu Naidu is the C M, his son is a Minister and his brother-in-law is an MLA in Andhra Pradesh.  Referring to the allegation of cost escalation of projects under TRS rule, he asserted that such escalation of project costs took place even during the earlier Congress and TDP regimes and hence such accusations are meaningless.

At the end, the TRS activist remarked that  it is an irony that  some of the champions of separate Telangana like Prof Kodandaram and balladeer Gaddar are playing in to the hands of the Congress and TDP leaders and supporting them.  He felt that staunch supporters of Telangana should not align with the Congress and the TDP which are responsible for the backwardness of the Region since 1956.  He, however, added that KCR has become a man of the masses, he had launched many schemes for the welfare of different sections of people, and this will definitely help the TRS retain power after the elections.
