Women passengers with dual visas detained at Shamshabad Airport

The fateful journey of 44 women passengers from different parts of Andhra Pradesh and Goa ended up in Shamshabad Police Station as the airport authorities of Shamshabad International Airport handed them over to police after finding that the whole bunch of backpacker are traveling with dual visas in violation of ECR and POE act.

Upon suspicion, the immigration officials at Shamshabad International Airport square off the women passengers boarding on a flight for Kuwait early Tuesday morning. Later, the official found that the women passengers carrying both employment as well as visit visas with them simultaneously in violation of ECR and POE act framed by the government for the protection of immigrants.

“Immigration officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Shamshabad today morning detained 44 women passengers from Andhra Pradesh, Guntur, Goa and Tamil Nadu upon suspicion and found that they were traveling illegally by carrying both Visit visas and Employment visas simultaneously. These passengers were trying to board an Aljazeera flight for Kuwait. The immigration authorities handed over the passengers to Shamshabad airport police and have filed a formal complaint against them. We have registered a case and are investigating the matter,” informed P.Vijay Kumar, Inspector of Police, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Police Shamshabad.

To secure a job abroad, the official said, some people try to secure both visits as well as employment visas through agents to avoid a return journey to India. The travel agents, in return for money, manage visas for the job seekers abroad. Soon after reaching the destination, they scrap the visit visa only to continue their stay on an employment visa that may crop several issues for them if the situation turns volatile on overseas land.

“We have begun investigating the matter and will find the agents who are involved in securing two visas simultaneously for the passengers to cross the country illegally,” the official informed.
