Yogi to Take Action Against Trader Leader for Recording His Call

A trade leader in Varanasi Rakesh Jain has found himself in trouble for recording call his telephonic exchange of words with Yogi Adityanath the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and posting it on the internet.  Kaushal Raj Sharma, the District Magistrate, published a show-cause note to Jain on Sunday and asks for a reply in three days for recording the exchange of words between him and Yogi Adityanath without his consent and then releasing it onto the internet as an audio clip, failing to do so will result in a legal action taken against him.

This move by Jain impacts the dignity of the constitutional office and breaches the privacy of the conversation, the report read. When asked by news reporters, Sharma told them that “The Chief Minister’s Office has taken serious note of this act and directed the district administration to take necessary action against Jain.”

Rakesh Jain is the city president of the Akhil Bhartiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal and he had spoken to the Chief Minister on 22nd August and decided to record their conversation and then, later on, posted the clip on social media.

Jain can be heard protesting about private hospitals charging too much for treating Covid-19 patients.

Jain can also be heard making a fuss about how the District Magistrate does not respond to questions relating to the portal and has curbed market timings despite the fact that the government has allowed the opening of markets from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

In the recorded conversation, the chief minister is heard reassuring that he will investigate the matter. Besides giving the show-cause note to Jain, the state president of the Akhil Bhartiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal has been requested to initiate the required action against him for this act. Concerning the complaints of Jain, the District Magistrate spoke out that the district administration has no kind of objection over the grievances made against it in the amount of a trade union leader.
